The team
The Film School comprises a group of highly qualified professionals drawn from a range of relevant sectors carefully chosen for the unique skills they can bring to the project.
Each member of the team brings a different skill set, ensuring that clients receive the best possible service.

Alan Dickinson

Alan is an acclaimed cameraman, producer and editor with more than 20 years of experience with ITN, the BBC and as a web content provider. Much of his work has involved working with correspondents from the scientific and education sectors.
He has covered most of the major news events of the past 20 years including the Gulf War, where he was Sir Trevor McDonald's personal cameraman. He is nationally recognised for the quality and clarity of his work.
Alan is responsible for filming and editing all The Film School's productions. He has filmed and directed video for many schools including
Edinburgh Academy, St Columba's School and the
Erskine Stewart's Melville schools.

Jill Ledgerwood

Jill graduated in law from the University of Aberdeen before going on to complete a post-graduate diploma in journalism. She worked in journalism for 15 years, latterly as the assistant chief sub-editor at The Herald where she was responsible for daily editorial decisions, design, layout and editing of the news section. She set up fuzzylime ltd, a company specialising in web design and copywriting for commercial clients, in March 2009.
Jill lives in the south side of Glasgow with her husband and two small children. She was educated at George Heriot's School in Edinburgh where she benefited from a wide range of extra-curricular activities including achieving her Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award.
Jill uses her journalistic skills to research The Film School's projects, to interview clients and to write the script for the finished product.

Mel Unkles

Mel was educated at Craigholme School in Glasgow and then at St Columba's School in Kilmacolm. She graduated with an honours degree in marketing and tourism from Strathclyde University before putting her tourism skills to good use travelling extensively across America and Africa.
She settled in London where she worked in the wine trade, achieving a diploma in wine from the WSET (Wine and Spirit Education Trust), before returning to Scotland where she worked latterly with royal warrant holders Corney and Barrow. She now runs a successful shellfish business with her husband. Mel is very interested in education and is a member of the Parent Council and a paired reading volunteer at her daughter's school.
Mel conducts all the on-screen interviews for The Film School and narrates the voiceover for the finished product.

Heather McArthur

Heather McArthur has 18 years of experience within Scotland's further education sector and has extensive experience liaising with awarding bodies, industry members, and service users. She is familiar with current developments in education policy and practice and is actively involved in marketing.
In her role as Economic Development Officer (Tourism) for a large local authority, Heather was involved in providing marketing assistance and support to private and public organisations and she provides private training in customer service to a wide variety of clients. She graduated with an MA (Hons) in English literature and politics from Glasgow University and then completed a post-graduate diploma in Tourism Studies at Strathclyde University before receiving her Teaching Qualification in Further Education from the University of Aberdeen.
Heather is The Film School's resident education expert and advises on marketing as well as customer service.

David Bennett

David deals with the technical, behind-the-scenes work for The Film School, producing its web content and the artwork for its DVD covers. Educated in Dumfries, he spent more than eight years working for Scottish newspapers, most recently as a designer and sub-editor for The Herald in Glasgow. During this time, he was frequently invited to use his design skills in the production of special supplements and news features.
At the same time, he began work as a freelance web designer and developer and set up fuzzylime ltd, a company specialising in web design and copywriting for commercial clients, in March 2009.
David lives in the west end of Glasgow.
